Cap-Net (water resources management)

People interested in desertification should most certainly get in contact with “Cap-Net“, the International Network for Capacity Building in Integrated Water Resources Management.

They can start by getting a free CD (see text of Cap-Net below):

1. Why Gender Matters - a tutorial for water managers
The tutorial aims to show how addressing gender will improve efficiency of water use and environmental sustainability, as well as social benefits and equity from use of water resources. The CD contains the self-study tutorial with resource materials in English and Spanish.

2. Cap-Net e-library, from our web site
To assist those without good internet connections this CD includes all of the main data bases from the Cap-Net web site. Access to training materials, references, water management tools etc is easy from this user friendly CD.

3. Self learning tutorial on IWRM, Cap-Net.
English, French, Spanish and Portuguese versions are all available from the one CD. View at your leisure to consider some of the key aspects of integrated water resources management. The material is in PowerPoint and with few skills can be easily adapted to your own teaching use.

4. IWRM plans, Training Manual and Operational Guide, Cap-Net & GWP.
Produced to support the development of national IWRM plans this contains a training manual, PowerPoint slides and extensive reference material. The manual is not only for teaching but is a good reference for how to develop an IWRM plan.

These materials are from a training course on IWRM principles and include session guides, references and PowerPoint presentations.

6. Gender and Water short course training materials, GWA.
Gender and Water Alliance course materials covering aspects of gender and gender mainstreaming and also the relevance of gender to water resources management.

7. Mainstreaming Gender in Water Management, resource guide, UNDP.
A collection of valuable resources on gender including tools, case studies and good practices.

8. IWRM ToolBox, GWP.
