Reorientation of Indian Agriculture for Increase of Income Growth
18 percent of total GDP in India originates from agriculture but growth rate is minimum. When overall growth rate of India is 9%,but growth rate of Agriculculture is only 1.5%. Though India’s 70% population is rural and depending income from agriculture. India exports only 7% of agricultural products of which 90 percent of products are of animal origin. On this back drop, animal resources have wide scope to enhance growth rate of agriculture. Indian Council of Agricultural Research needs to be developed by two parts: 1) Indian Council of Plant Agriculture (ICPR) and 2) Indian Council of Animal Agriculture (ICAA). This diversification of Agriculture can check farmers suicide and enhance the growth rate of Agriculture.
