Tunisia elected deputy chairman of UN conference on fight against desertification

TUNIS, Sept 5, 2007 (TAP) - Tunisia was elected unanimously for a two-year term as deputy chairman of the 8th conference of the contracting parties to the UN convention for fight against desertification, held September 3-14 in Madrid.

 

The conference works were opened by crown prince Philippe De Bourbon and Spain was elected to the presidency in the person of minister of environment Mrs. Cristina Narbona.
The Tunisian delegation, led by ambassador of Tunisia in Spain Habib M’barek, includes five members representing the ministries of development and international co-operation, agriculture and hydraulic resources, environment and sustainable development as well as two experts from this ministry specialised in the fight against desertification.
