UNICEF seeks Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Specialists for its West and Central Africa offices
The UNICEF Regional Office for West and Central Africa seeks highly qualified candidates for 10 Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Specialists at both the L3 and L4 levels in the following locations in West and Central Africa:
UNICEF Regional Office based in Senegal (2 positions at L4)
Central African Republic (L4)
Chad (L4)
Congo Brazzaville (L3)
Ghana (L4)
Mali (L4)
Mauritania (L4)
Sierra Leone (L3)
Togo (L4)
L3/L4 Salary (Gross/annum) $ 98,195 and $ 119,631, respectively, and applicable standard UN benefits and entitlements

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is the world’s leading organization working for the rights of children. In recognition of the rapidly changing programme environment and the challenges posed by increasingly complex humanitarian and development operations, the West and Central African Regional Office seeks highly qualified candidates to fill key WASH posts in several country offices to provide inspiring technical leadership and vision. The WASH Specialists will play a key role in developing and supporting WASH programs in the respective countries, working in close coordination with Health, Nutrition, Education, and Communication sections with the goal of enhancing child survival and development.
Minimum requirements:
- Advanced university degree in relevant fields such as public health, water supply and sanitation engineering, and environmental sciences.
- For the L3 level vacancies: Five years of progressively responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels in programme management, strategy development, monitoring and evaluation.
- For the L4 level vacancies: Eight years of progressively responsible work experience at the national and international levels in programme management, strategy development, monitoring and evaluation.
- Depending on country, fluency in French or English required plus working knowledge of the other.
- Current knowledge of the latest developments and technology in WASH, both in the development and emergency context.
- Proven ability to conceptualize, develop, plan and manage programmes, as well as to impart knowledge and teach skills.
- Leadership and teamwork abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships both within and outside the organization.
