Bringing hope for refugees.
Our Vision
Homeland’s vision is to bring hope to refugees through education and other long term sustainable development projects. In the world of refugees hope is a very hard to find commodity. Homeland is empowering young men and women by helping to develop the whole person. We give them keys to open a whole new future and a vision to become an agent of change and not merely a victim of circumstance. By teaching new language skills, leadership skills, practical economic development skills, Homeland is equipping a whole generation of refugees to be the leaders for the future.
Our Values
Team-Based
Relationally-Focused
Compassion-Driven
Volunteer-Sustained
Indigenous Integrity
Our History
Homeland was established in 2002 to begin to meet some of the ever increasing needs of the Saharawi people. Though there are large non-governmental organizations like the United Nations who do tremendous large scale projects world wide, many strategically important needs are often missed. The development of the person is often overlooked. Homeland’s staff and volunteers live with the people they serve. Learning and adapting to their culture and understanding their needs many times more than what a large NGO is capable of doing. By bringing hope through education and development to a person, the destructive cycle of poverty and welfare mentality can stopped. It was these very types of needs and opportunities which spawned the creation of Homeland International.
