Private sector funders interested in funding desertification projects?

Question: Desertification/Somalia
Greetings: I came across your website http://desertification.wordpress.com/why-this-blog-why-this-content/
Q: Do you or any of your colleagues know of any private sector funders (foundations, environmental funds, etc) that are interested in funding desertification projects?
Here is the context: UNEP has a provisional plan for some programs in Somalia (attached concept-note-somalia),
CONCEPT NOTE
Capacity Building in Environmental Governance and Biodiversity Conservation in Somalia
(Tentative Budget: $1,980,000)
Project Duration: 3 years (2009 to 2012)
but because the humanitarian needs are so urgent, the agency is unable to attract donor funding to address environmental challenges — despite the fact that these problems are extensive, directly affect the humanitarian situation, and are part of any long-term resolution to Somalia’s crisis.
If you or any colleagues can suggest possible funders that UNEP might approach, I’d appreciate it. I am in contact with the UNEP employee in question and can add more context or put you (or relevant colleagues) into contact if you think you have any ideas.
Thanks, Nic
