Today — on Universal Children’s Day — Global Water Challenge is calling attention to one of the greatest threats to children’s health and well-being — dirty water (or no water at all). Dr. Tanvi Nagpal, GWC’s director of Water and Sanitation Initiatives sent out the following email.
___________
Global Water Challenge released a report today highlighting the fact that half the world’s schools lack access to clean water and adequate sanitation. This has a devastating impact on children’s health, their ability to learn and future economic opportunities.
Based on what we have learned, we are urging governments and donors around the world to make access to clean water and sanitation in schools a priority. Policymakers, donors, and practitioners must now commit to increasing investments in schools programs and making those programs more effective and sustainable.
But it’s going to take more than a report to galvanize action. We’re going to need to keep building support and raising the profile of this issue. You may already be familiar with the problem of water in schools, but many people are not aware.
Help us spread the word about this critical issue on Universal Children’s Day. Read a summary of the report and tell 5 friends what you learned.

I’ve visited many of the schools Global Water Challenge supports in countries around the world and seen firsthand how clean water and toilets can transform children’s lives.
Supporters like you play a crucial role in helping us generate broader support for this issue.
Many thanks,
Tanvi
