An argan forest in the Algerian Sahara (Abdelm. Mouzaoui / Willem Van Cotthem)

Thanks to my good friends the Foresters of Tindouf (Sahara desert, S.W. Algeria) I was lucky to visit a splendid argan forest in the desert valley Oued Elmaa.  Mr. Abdelmoumène MOUZAOUI, forester, offered me some photographs and I had opportunities of taking some too.

I publish them here because so many people are interested in this superb argan tree (Argania spinosa), well known for its fruits out of which the fantastic argan oil can be pressed.  The tree deserves to be planted at larger scale (reforestation, economic value).

I will not describe this beautiful tree in detail here.  A simple search on Google will offer all the information one can want.

It goes without saying that the argan tree can play an important role in the combat of desertification.
