Discussion on measures to tackle desertification

MUSCAT — The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Wealth wrapped up on Wednesday a training progamme that discussed methods of rehabilitating damaged pastures.

The 4-day programme was attended by experts, specialists who deliberated on how to tackle desertification and best means of protecting natural pastures to ensure its durability taking into account their significant contribution to the national economy.

Natural pastures is a store of biodiversity and it serves as a defending line against desertification and the hazard of pollution and climate change, owing to this the Ministry has embarked on programmes and projects using cutting-edge technologies with the purpose of improving and preserving natural pastures.
