African Charter Article# 24: All peoples shall have the right to a general satisfactory environment favorable to their development.

Summary & Comment: New Resource: Goodwin previously directed AFJN in Washington, and worked with GRAIN also. He and his wife have a long commitment to empowering and providing a platform for small farmers in Africa and Brazil. “My wife, Catherine, and I have set up our own NGO, PLANT, to build on the many years of human rights work she did in Brazil and my own work in Africa.” JK

“PLANT (Partners for the Land & Agricultural Needs of Traditional Peoples) is a catalyst for indigenous communities and smallholder farmers to speak for themselves, their eco-systems and food sovereignty, instead of others speaking for them.  PLANT works with partners in the Amazonian Region of Brazil and in sub-Saharan Africa.”
