Antigua and Barbuda to tap potential of avocado
An ambitious million dollar project is underway in Antigua and Barbuda to construct the twin-island nation’s first avocado oil processing factory, with the aim of strengthening agro-processing and creating employment. Spearheaded by Vidya Avikado Antigua Enterprise, with technical support from the Ministry of Agriculture, the factory will handle surplus avocado production from local fruit farmers and export the oil to large multinational companies for use in the manufacture of cosmetics and food commodities.
