From IDPs to Farmers: Enhancing agricultural production and marketing in Northern Uganda
Since 2010, ACTED has been supporting the economic recovery of Uganda’s war-torn Northern region by helping smallholder farmers improve their livelihoods through the World Food Programme’s (WFP) Purchase for Progress (P4P) Initiative. Through this initiative, ACTED has constructed and equipped grain storage warehouses for bulking, and helped develop farmers’ business, marketing, and management skills. By producing a greater quantity of a better quality of grain, farmers benefiting from P4P have increased their incomes and significantly improved their quality of life.
