TAC Members Sensitised on the Effects of Desertification

Action Against Desertification (AAD) Project of the Great Green Wall Sahara and Sahel Initiative (GGWSSI) recently convened a regional sensitisation forum for members of the North Bank Region Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) on issues against desertification.

 

The regional project supporting the implementation of the Great Green Wall Sahara and Sahel Initiative (GGWSSI) of FAO was held in Kerewan.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the deputy Governor of the area, Mustapha Saidy hailed the regional institutions and NGOs for their immense contribution in complementing government’s development objectives in improving the lives and livelihood of the rural population.

The sensitisation of TAC, he went on, would help to restore lost environment and degradation of natural resources, citing the negative effects of desertification on food production and productivity.
